The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) has issued guidelines to make the process of recycling ships and their waste materials as straightforward and as safe as possible. To this end, we use the Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM).
The objective is to ensure that hazardous materials are dealt with safely during all of the ship’s life-cycle phases, from construction to operation and scrapping.
Kiwa Oesterbaai’s HazMat experts will assist you with the IHM, in accordance with the IMO standards. Kiwa Oesterbaai has set up collaboration initiatives, for the purpose of carrying out IHMs and their accompanying analysis.
Kiwa Oesterbaai Maritime & Offshore also works on platforms and other offshore premises, using asbestos inventories, asbestos training programs and asbestos advice.
Following inspection and clearance, Kiwa Oesterbaai will issue the requisite asbestos compliance certificate. This certificate is required when travelling to ports where the authorities require such declarations. An asbestos inventory can also be part of the QHSE and/or maintenance plan. Kiwa Oesterbaai’s SC540 asbestos inventories comply with both IMO standards and the strict legislation in effect worldwide.
Kiwa Oesterbaai's HazMat experts also have knowhow in surveying and consulting about Hexavalent Chromium (Chroom-6), PFOS, HBCDD and ODS.
